A project for the soul. The first part of my painterly, baroque-inspired series.

Baroque painting has always been close to my soul.

Especially since I started doing portraiture, I`ve looked (drooled) for the lighting in those painted masterpieces, got crazy about chiaroscuro, the colors, the composition, the atmosphere. I began to obsessively read everything that fell into my hands about the subject, trying to translate this pictorial aesthetic into photography.

Rembrandt, Rubens, Vermeer, Velazquez, Van Dyck...

These images are my first attempt to take the esthetic of their paintings and translate it towards photography.

As a wonderful bonus, the greatest honor I have been awarded in my photographic career so far, the Fine Art Photographer of the Year 2020 award I received this year, at the Master Photography Awards Gala in the UK, was earned with an image part of this series.

I am now working on some more elaborate scenes, with more characters, hopefully taking this to a different level. Stay tuned :) Thank you Cristian and Cati, without you, these images wouldn`t have existed.
